This boutique hotel in South Iceland is tucked away in the beautiful Mýrdalur valley. 

It’s just 12 miles from Vik, making it super easy to find if you’re on the lookout for Ring Road hotels.

Pro Tip: The hotel is pretty close to Katla Volcano, and one of the coolest things to do here is to take a tour of the Katla Ice Cave.

Another great hotel in South Iceland is Hotel Kría. It’s conveniently located in Vík, right off the Ring Road, and super close to some of the area’s must-see sights.

We’re talking about places like Sólheimajökull Glacier, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and Þórsmörk (Thórsmörk) Nature Reserve.

Jökulsárlón

After leaving Vik, the next big town you’ll reach is Höfn. 

The main stops along the way are Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Vestrahorn. 

Since there’s quite a bit of distance between these highlights, I recommend staying somewhere in the middle to save on driving time.

8. Hérað – Berjaya Iceland Hotels

 A good stopping point on the Ring Road is Egilsstaðir, the main town in the East.

Húsavík is one of my favorite villages in Iceland.

And when it comes to whale watching in Iceland, Húsavík is THE place to go. 

Hotel Laxá is only a short 45-minute drive away from Húsavík. There are a lot of hiking trails in the area and it’s also very close to the Mývatn Nature Baths.
