When the border was closed in the first months of COVID we took a road trip to Jökulsárlón and Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon and there were ZERO other people there! No locals, no tourists, no one. We were alone at the glacier lagoon for THREE hours walking around, sitting by the shore, watching the seals, and taking in the stillness and quiet. It was the most magical day I’ve ever experienced while living in Iceland. It was incredibly emotional and special and something we will never witness again.
