News flash: In Iceland, weather warnings are NOT a News flash: In Iceland, weather warnings are NOT a suggestion ❌ Here’s the question I get all the time: 👉🏼 “What do I do if there’s a weather warning and I’ve already paid for my accommodation?” The answer? Do. Not. Travel. Losing a little money is nothing compared to risking your life (or anyone else’s) just to make it to a hotel room or excursion. Here’s the breakdown of travel warnings in Iceland for your reference 👇 🟡 Yellow warnings: Proceed with caution. These are low-level alerts, but conditions can still be tricky. Pay attention to updates. 🟠 Orange warnings: No go. Conditions can be dangerous. I’d recommend staying put - especially if you don't have any experience with treacherous winter driving. 🔴 Red warnings: Don’t even try. These are rare, but when they happen, you need to take them seriously. So, what should you do? 📞 Call your accommodation. Explain the situation: “It’s unsafe to travel. What do you recommend?” Most places will help — whether it’s a refund, rescheduling, or advising you to stay where you are. Whatever you do...DON’T shrug that weather warning off.
