You just landed in Iceland. Now how do you *actual You just landed in Iceland. Now how do you *actually* pay for things? 🤔💸

First things first: Iceland runs almost entirely on cards. Locals tap for everything — from gas stations to hot dogs to public restrooms.

Cash is basically obsolete (except maybe for a campsite shower or the rare tip for a stellar tour guide!).

Here’s what’s helpful to know for your travels:
👉🏼 Credit/debit cards are the norm (credit/debit/ApplePay).
👉🏼 Most ATMs charge international fees, so check with your bank before you withdraw.
👉🏼 Tipping isn’t part of the culture since wages already account for it. If you do leave a little extra, it’s appreciated, but never expected!

Money stuff is one of those things that’s easy to overlook when you’re daydreaming about waterfalls and glaciers…but SUPER helpful to get right on arrival day! 🙌🏼

That’s why I created my FREE Iceland Arrival Guide packed with practical tips for the moment you touch down at Keflavík. It has everything you need to hit the ground confident and ready!

Ready for a smooth and stress-free arrival in Iceland? Just comment “ARRIVAL” below and I’ll send it over!

Reykjavík is definitely one of the world’s cool Reykjavík is definitely one of the world’s coolest capitals, but it’s the tiny villages in Iceland that have my heart 💚

Here are some of my all-time faves 👇🏼

📍 Westman Islands – A favorite weekend getaway for locals with rich history and puffin colonies that most tourists completely miss.

📍 Seyðisfjörður – This town at the the bottom of a fjord feels straight out of a fairytale! It’s famous for its Rainbow Road leading to the pastel-blue church and vibrant art scene.

📍 Siglufjörður – Tiny fishing village with dramatic fjord views that was once the herring fishing capital of Iceland, complete with adorable wooden houses.

📍 Húsavík – Known as the whale watching capital of Iceland, this little town offers some of the best chances to see whales up close in their natural environment.

📍 Ísafjörður – The largest town in the Westfjörds with colorful wooden houses that pop against the stunning natural backdrop (plus one of Iceland's best seafood restaurants!)

📍 Stykkishólmur – Lovely town with colorful houses and an iconic orange lighthouse, perfect for amazing cliff-top views and sweet kleina donuts.

📍 Arnarstapi – Modest coastal village surrounded by striking cliffs and lava fields, where you can hike across an actual lava field to a neighboring village.

Oh Iceland… The country where there are more sh Oh Iceland…

The country where there are more sheep than people, and traffic means a herd that’s in absolutely no hurry.

Where the skies can’t make up their mind, and the gas station hot dogs always hit the spot.

Where the roads are narrow and winding, but the views go on forever and every detour is worth taking.

Where the pace is slower, the air is crisper, and 10+ years later, I’m still here for all of it 💚

Who else would trade their morning traffic jam commute for sheep with absolutely zero sense of urgency?

The Blue Lagoon gets all of the hype…but IMHO th The Blue Lagoon gets all of the hype…but IMHO these more local hot springs steal the show 💚

From a steamy thermal river to a hidden hot pot tucked under a waterfall, these are the kinds of moments you’ll remember long after your trip ends.

But here’s the deal 👇🏼

Finding them isn’t always simple.

With so much scattered info online, it’s easy to second-guess your plan, miss something epic, or waste hours trying to piece it all together.

That’s exactly why I created my Iceland Maps + Guidebooks.

As a self-proclaimed hot spring connoisseur (hi 🙋‍♀️) and longtime Iceland local, I’ve packed every guide with:
👉🏼 Exact hot spring locations
👉🏼 Where to stay
👉🏼 What to eat
👉🏼 What to pack
👉🏼 And exclusive discounts that save you more than the guide costs

Planning just got a WHOLE lot easier.

Puffin lovers, this is your FINAL CALL. 🐧 By l Puffin lovers, this is your FINAL CALL. 🐧

By late August, most puffins will be gone — so if you’re visiting soon, don’t miss your window!

Here are the best places to see them:

📍 Látrabjarg (Westfjords): This massive cliff marks the westernmost point of Europe and offers incredible puffin viewing right along the edge.
📍 Borgarfjörður Eystri (East Iceland): This quiet fjord in the northeast is known as one of the world’s best places to spot puffins up close.
📍 Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands): Home to over 1 million puffins each summer — the largest nesting site in Iceland!
📍 Dyrhólaey (South Coast): A large rock arch that sticks out into the ocean and is home to a large puffin colony.
📍 Ingólfshöfði (South Eastern Iceland): Only accessible by guided tour, but worth it for the incredible views + puffin sightings!
📍 Akurey + Lundey (boat tours from Reykjavík): These uninhabited islands are just a short boat ride from Reykjavík and are perfect if you want to stick close to the capital!

Save this post if you want to see puffins in Iceland! 💾

And let me know — you met Iceland’s most adorable locals in person? Drop a 🐧 if they’re on your must-see list!

When you think of beaches, you probably imagine su When you think of beaches, you probably imagine sunny skies, warm golden sand, and lazy days spent tanning by the water. 🏖️

But beaches in Iceland tell a completely different story.

Think vast, wild, and dramatic coastlines - not beach towels and piña coladas! 😉

If standing on a stretch of black sand with glacier peaks in the distance, incredible rock formations all around, and the roar of the Atlantic Ocean sounds like your kind of beach day…

Be sure to check out these gorgeous black sand beaches while you’re in Iceland 👇🏼

📍Reynisfjara - Iceland’s most famous black sand beach, where striking basalt columns rise out of the ocean, right beside the charming village of Vík.

📍Diamond Beach - Big chunks of ice that break off from Vatnajökull glacier wash up onto the shore and lie scattered on the sand, sparkling in diamonds in sunlight

📍Stokksnes - Picture black sand stretching out in front of you, grassy green hills rolling along the sides, and the iconic Vestrahorn mountain towering in the distance; it’s incredibly beautiful.

📍Djúpalónssandur Beach - A black sand and pebble beach located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. As you walk down to the shore, you’ll see large, heavy lifting stones called Aflraunasteinar that fishermen used to test their strength.

Be sure to SAVE this reel for your upcoming trip to Iceland!

And let me know in the comments…

Would you choose a trip adventuring through Iceland’s beaches over a typical tropical vacay? Because honestly, give me dramatic black sand and glacier views over crowded resort beaches any day! 🖤
