A

I have limited mobility, will I be able to access the sights in this itinerary?

A lot of sights can easily be reached from the parking lot with minimal walking. If I suggest a hike in the itinerary, it would be easy to skip and move on to the next place without it affecting your day.

If there’s one thing that can completely change yo If there’s one thing that can completely change your trip in Iceland in a mere moment… it’s the weather.

And it’s not just rain.

Whether it’s wind, fog, sudden snow, or road closures, it can all shift your plans faster than you expect.

Sunny one minute… sideways rain the next. Welcome to Iceland. 😅

That’s why the goal isn’t to have your whole trip rigidly set in stone.

Instead, you want to give yourself some room to move things around.

Leaving space in your itinerary, grouping stops by area, and having a few backup options nearby makes a huge difference when conditions change.

Because they will.

And when they do, you want to be able to pivot quickly on the spot - so you’re not wasting too much time trying to figure out your Plan B.

With my Iceland Guidebook + Map, you can quickly see nearby stops, whether that’s a café, museum, geothermal pool, or other indoor options if the weather limits your plans.

And if roads close and you’re forced to reroute, you can easily find places to stay, restaurants, and other stops in whatever area you end up in.

So instead of scrambling or trying to rework your entire day, you can adjust your plans and keep going.

Want that kind of flexibility built into your trip?

If you ever go on an Iceland road trip with me… he If you ever go on an Iceland road trip with me… here’s what you’re signing up for 👇🏼

🌭 Stopping for Icelandic hot dogs & ice cream cones more often than planned.

📸 Pulling over (safely) every five minutes because the views are ridiculous.

🤩 Getting way too excited about waterfalls and mountains.

And yes… probably singing along to Taylor Swift somewhere along the way. 🎶

Hi! I’m Jeannie - an American expat, mom of two, and I’ve been living in Iceland for over a decade.

I’m a big believer that self-drive road trips are the most magical way to experience Iceland.

The freedom to stop when you want, take the scenic route, and discover places you’d never see from a tour bus window is something truly special.

I share road trip tips, hidden gems, and everything I’ve learned to help travelers feel confident exploring Iceland on their own.

So if a good ol’ gas station hot dog (I promise, they’re better in Iceland) and spontaneous road trip stops sound like your kind of adventure…

Follow along for more Iceland exploring. 🧡

Let me guess… You’ve saved TONS of inspo for your Let me guess…

You’ve saved TONS of inspo for your Iceland trip.

📌 You’ve got a whole collection of waterfalls you want to see on Pinterest
📲 You’ve got the best hikes and views saved in your IG reels folder
👉🏼 And you’re already getting excited about visiting Iceland’s most famous hot springs & spas

But what if I told you that some of the best stops in Iceland aren’t the big-name ones you’ve already accounted for?

They’re the ones you don’t even know exist yet 👀

✨ The tiny trail at a popular waterfall that leads you away from the crowds
✨ The view you almost drive past without thinking twice
✨ The quick stop that ends up being your favorite part of the entire trip

They’re the kind of places you’ll miss if you don’t know where to look.

Which is why I created my Iceland Guidebook + Map.

With it, you open up a whole new side of Iceland, one that most tourists miss out on. 🧡

Because it’s not just about getting from one highlight to the next.

It’s everything in between that ends up shaping the trip.

The extra stops, the small moments, and all the little things you need along the way to keep things running smoothly…

Like knowing where the next gas station is, where you can stop for food, or even just finding a restroom when you need one.

Inside the map, everything is already laid out for you - major stops, hidden gems, and all those practical details in one place so you can see what’s nearby as you go.

So instead of constantly checking different apps and resourcces, or wondering what’s nearby, you can just drive on and take it all in!

Want to make sure you’re not missing the best parts along the way?

Just comment “ICELANDMAP” and I’ll send you the link with all the details and what’s inside! 👇

Sure, sleep is great and all… But watching the s Sure, sleep is great and all…

But watching the sky light up with green at 30,000 feet is even better. 😍

If you’re taking a red-eye to Iceland in the next week or so, this might be one of your last chances to catch the Northern Lights before the season ends in mid-April.

So if you can’t sleep…

Open the window. You might just get lucky. ✨

Driving in Iceland is easy… once you know the rule Driving in Iceland is easy… once you know the rules.

But if you show up expecting it to work like it does in the States, you might be a little confused 😅

For starters, stop signs are rare, roundabouts are everywhere, and turning right on red is an absolute no-go ❌

And also…the signs might judge you with a tiny red frown face if you’re speeding.

Just Iceland things 🤷🏼‍♀️

There are definitely a few quirks, but once you get the hang of them, it’s pretty straightforward.

And having a reliable rental car you don’t have to stress about makes a big difference in how quickly you adjust.

I always book with Blue Car Rental. They’re locally owned, transparent about pricing and insurance, and the pickup process is smooth (yes, even when you’re arriving jet-lagged and in need of copious amounts of caffeine).
