Description
Laki is a volcanic fissure in the highlands of Iceland that sits between Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull glaciers. The last eruption happened in 1783 when the lava flow and soil contamination led to a famine and killed 25% of the population.
This is part of the lava field as a result of the eruption. I’m in love with every part of the highlands, but I had really been looking forward to seeing this place. We spent the entire day hiking up the craters, walking through lava fields, marveling at the views, and just being in awe at the beautiful things nature creates!
